When the first version of Marketing your Business was released I wrote the site using Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004. For the second edition I decided to practice what I preached and opted for one of the many CMS (Content Management System) engines available - this was covered in an entirely new chapter to demonstrate how a site could be written and maintained with virtually no experience of HTML. This site was originally constructed using Mambo, and then ported over to Joomla 1.0, both of which uses PHP and mySQL. In 2008 the site was ported to Joomla 1.5.
While I have occasionally gone into the 'back end' html to tweak the site, most people would be able to easily maintain a site written with a content management system such as this. It allows a highly polished, automated site to be quickly brought to market with the minimum of cost and fuss.
